Public transport data for AI-based, environmentally sensitive mobility management

Dr. Christine Langhanns

A new article by Dr. Christine Langhanns, Head of Data Analytics at rms GmbH, has been published in the specialist journal MobiLogisch. The article highlights the role that public transport data plays in environmentally sensitive mobility management and how it is used in the AIAMO research project for analyses, simulations and AI applications.

The focus is on public transport timetable, real-time and operational data. These provide important insights into service quality, accessibility and traffic flows. In AIAMO, this information is linked to environmental, weather and traffic data via the AIAMOnexus and processed for digital twins and AI-supported forecasts.

Using examples from Leipzig and Landau i. d. Pfalz, the article demonstrates how integrated datasets can help to better assess the impact of measures on traffic flow, air quality and public transport. It also makes it clear that informed decisions in mobility management require high-quality data and the intelligent linking of different information sources.
